African-Print Garment Care

Thoughtful care for pieces you love. Always follow your garment’s care label and product-specific instructions first. Fabrics, linings and trims vary, so this guide does not replace the instructions for your individual piece.

Washing

For NIKI KAY pieces labelled hand wash cold: wash gently in cold water and do not bleach. Wash separately as a precaution against colour transfer, particularly on the first wash. Avoid prolonged soaking, rubbing or wringing. If your label specifies a different method, follow it instead.

Drying

For pieces labelled hang dry, gently remove excess water without twisting and hang to dry in a shaded, well-ventilated space. Avoid tumble drying unless your garment’s label permits it. Keep damp printed fabric away from pale fabrics and surfaces.

Pressing

Where the care instructions allow ironing, use a cool iron on the wrong side only. Avoid ironing directly over trims or embellishments.

Storage

Store only when completely dry, in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Use a suitable hanger or fold gently without crushing structured details. Avoid storing against damp or light-coloured items.

Colour-transfer cautions

Do not assume every print is colourfast. Keep wet or damp garments separate from other clothing, upholstery and accessories. If you notice colour releasing during washing, keep the piece separate and contact us before further treatment. Do not use homemade colour-setting treatments as a substitute for the care label.

Not sure about your piece?

For mixed fabrics, delicate trims or a missing care label, contact NIKI KAY with your product name before washing. We’ll help you check the instructions for your garment.
